How do you proceed with technical specialist translations?

We select a suitable specialist translator for the processing of your text. Naturally it is particularly important to us that all translations are carried out by native speakers.

Following the translation the entire text is checked by one of our engineers.

As part of the check our engineer stores terminology in a database, which our customers can access with a password.

What are your delivery times for translations?

We always attempt to carry out the work within a reasonable delivery period. The processing of different language combinations takes place in parallel.

We do our utmost to meet shorter delivery times if these are necessary for you.

In which technical specialist areas do you offer translations?

We are specialised in technical texts.

Our specialist areas are:

  • Drive and control technology
  • Mechanics (general)
  • Automation engineering (PLC)
  • Building and construction
  • Physics
  • Pneumatics and hydraulics
  • Computers (hardware and software)
  • Electronics and electrical engineering
  • Plastics technology
  • Chemistry
  • Contracts

We do not translate texts from the following fields: medicine, pharmaceutics, and patents

How can I obtain a free fixed-price quotation for my specialist translation?

You can send us your text by e-mail, fax or post or you can upload your files to our website.

We will send you a free fixed-price quotation right away with no obligation.

Do you offer trial translations?

We offer a free trial translation (about 50 lines = 1 page) in the language combination of your choice.

How do you calculate the line length?

A line consists of 50 characters - see also: Calculation / payment

The line price is based on lines with 50 characters incl. punctuation marks and spaces.

We do not count double spaces, automatically created tables of contents, number tables, text not to be translated, etc.

How do you count the number of words in my document which is to be translated?

Since we bill by the line, the word count is rarely relevant for us.

Nevertheless, the number of words in a Word document can easily be determined:

  • the number of words is indicated at the bottom left next to the page details
  • the ‘Word count’ tool in the ‘Check’ menu will also tell you the number of words

Do you also offer translations without proofreading?

As a matter of principle, no.

Proofreading by a specialist engineer is an outstanding criterion for the quality of our translations.

See also: 3-pillar concept.

How do I order my technical specialist translation?

By completing the attachment to the quotation, signing it and sending it to us.

However, if you do not require a quotation, just send us your file by e-mail: info@pts.lu indicating the desired translation language(s).

How many people do you employ?

We employ 15 people (about half of them are engineers).
